2017 Holiday Care Package Project – Sponsorships available!

Our 2016 Holiday Care Package Project was a huge success!  We were able to provide more than 400 food care packages to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI thanks to the support of our generous sponsors!  We were even able to provide extra food items to our friends at Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo!

In 2017 we will once again be providing Holiday Care Packages for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and are excited to be planning Christmas Day deliveries to Bronson, DeVos, and Hurley in addition to Sparrow Hospital!

We have several group/Corporate sponsorships available for purchase, and are also asking for individual donations in any amount to help us cover the cost of this project ($1,200).

In addition to fundraising, the Junior High Youth made “Busy Bags” full of kids activities for our inpatient friends.

Happy Anniversary Princess Alli Foundation

Happy Anniversary Princess Alli Foundation

After Alli passed away in January 2015 we knew that we needed to find a way to honor her memory and help other families that were fighting for their sick children. It was one year ago this week that I presented the idea of a memorial foundation for our sweet daughter to a small group of friends and family, and we set in motion plans to begin bringing care packages to Sparrow Health System just a couple of short weeks later.

We are quickly approaching the first week of May and the anniversary of that first delivery and plan to celebrate it with the delivery of our 2,500th care package! I can hardly believe how much of an impact we have been able to have in just a year!

THANK YOU to all of you that have donated towards our care package project, our start-up fund, or our holiday campaign! THANK YOU to the crafters, the post forwarders, the FB likers, and the prayer warriors! We couldn’t have done any of this without you! Thank you for helping us build Allison’s legacy!

Happy Anniversary Princess Alli Foundation! Here’s to an exciting 2nd Year!

PRESS RELEASE: Princess Alli Foundation to deliver 160 care packages to Sparrow Hospital this Thanksgiving

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Princess Alli Foundation to deliver 160 care packages to Sparrow Hospital this Thanksgiving

Lansing, MI – Princess Alli Foundation will be providing care packages to 160 pediatric families at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI this Thanksgiving weekend. Each care package will provide much-needed food and toiletry items to caregivers, which typically includes one or both of the parents of the patient, to ensure their basic nutrition and hygiene needs are met.

Says Melanie Russcher, Founder and CEO of Princess Alli Foundation: “It is not uncommon for caregivers to remain at the bedside of their child for the duration of their hospital stay, more often than not missing meals. We are happy to partner with the community to ensure these families are taken care of this holiday season.” Sponsors for this year’s event include Meijer of Charlotte, MI, Katranji Hand Clinic of East Lansing, MI, and Flushing United Methodist Church of Flushing, MI.

Princess Alli Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity that was founded in April 2015 to support the families of children with illnesses in memory of Allison Ruth Russcher. Since first beginning its Care Package Project in May, the Olivet, MI based nonprofit has provided more than 1,100 food and toiletry care packages to pediatric families at Sparrow Hospital. It is currently raising funds to expand its services to the families of Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI by early 2016.

Six Months in Heaven

Today is a very emotional day for us – as of today our beautiful Allison Ruth has spent six months in Heaven.  It has been a hard six months, and compared to the ten short months we had her with us it seems to have been unusually long.

We miss her.  We miss her sweet smile, her beautiful eyes, and her giggles.  We miss her cuddles and her kisses.  We miss how much she loved and cared for people.

We are so heartbroken to have lost her.  But we are soo proud!  Proud of who she was and who she taught us to be.  Proud of how she inspired us to begin the Princess Alli Foundation to help other families who, like ours, may find themselves in and out of the hospital with a medically-complex child.

Today is a hard day for us, but it is also a very good day.  Today, on our 13th trip to Lansing since we started this adventure, we delivered our 525th care package to Sparrow Hospital.  525 is HUGE, and it isn’t just a care package count, it’s a PEOPLE count.  And it’s those people that matter to us, just like they mattered to our sweet Allison.

Thank you to everyone that has helped us reach this milestone.  Every dollar, every bottle of water, bar, or pudding, every LIKE or share has made this possible.

We love you all.

2015 Olivet Fireman’s Festival

The Princess Alli Foundation had an amazing time at the 2015 Olivet Fireman’s Festival!

Our goal for participating in this year’s festival was to raise awareness of our mission to support the families of children with illnesses in memory of Allison Ruth Russcher.  We were able to do so much more than that!

2015 Olivet Fireman's Festival

We are excited to announce that the generous people of Olivet helped us raise enough money to sponsor another day for our Holiday Care Package Campaign!  We are ecstatic to be one day closer to our goal of providing ELEVEN DAYS of extra-special holiday care packages to the families with inpatient children over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays!

2015 Olivet Fireman's Festival

THANK YOU to everyone that stopped by our booth to learn about the Princess Alli Foundation and our projects.  Thank you to those that purchased bracelets, drinks, and snacks from us – and even sent your friends our way to support us throughout the night!  Thank you for encouraging us and letting us share our amazing Allison with you.

And a big THANK YOU to the Olivet Firefighter’s Association for hosting such an amazing event!  We can’t wait to join you again next year!

2015 Olivet Fireman's Festival

Did we meet you at the festival?  We’d love to hear from you how we did!  Please feel free to comment below, and don’t forget to LIKE us on Facebook to help spread our mission!

If you were unable to attend this year’s event but would still like to make a donation to help support families you can do so HERE.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you <3

July Updates

We have had a busy few weeks here at the Princess Alli Foundation!  Here are our July Updates!

We applied for, and received, our 501(c)(3) public charity status at the end of June.  With our determination letter in-hand we have been able to begin working on grants for different projects on our dream list!  We will continue looking for new funding opportunities this summer.

We have been busy preparing for the Olivet Firefighters Association’s Annual Fireman’s Festival, which is Friday July 24 and Saturday, July 25.  We will have a booth set up (our first!) downtown on Saturday with snacks and a few fundraiser items for sale.  We will also have our donation tub along – stop by, support the Olivet Firefighters and Princess Alli Foundation, and enjoy the fireworks!

We received our second Holiday Care Package sponsor this month!  We have 9 more of these opportunities available.  We have also began looking for vendors for this project.  Please click HERE for more information on this project.

On Wednesday, July 22 we delivered our 485th care package!  This is an amazing accomplishment that we couldn’t have done without our amazing friends and family!  We have been truly blessed through our work with the Princess Alli Foundation and we hope that you have been, too.
