Supporting families at the bedside has always been at the heart of our mission.
During long hospital stays, many parents are unable to leave their child’s bedside for meals, a shower, or even clean laundry. While some charities offer off-site services, these are often impractical for families who are far from home and support networks. By providing food and toiletry care packages directly to inpatient rooms, Princess Alli Foundation helped make hospital stays more manageable—allowing caregivers to focus fully on comforting and advocating for their child.
From May 2015 through 2020, we proudly served families in the RNICU, PICU, and Pediatrics departments at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, MI. In 2016, we expanded to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital (Grand Rapids), Bronson Children’s Hospital (Kalamazoo), and Hurley Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital (Flint). By 2018, we were shipping care packages to C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital (Ann Arbor) and Children’s Hospital of Michigan’s Troy and Detroit campuses.
Thanks to generous support, we made our care packages shippable—reaching families across the country through our 50 States Challenge, completed in 2018 and expanded in 2019. These efforts sparked meaningful conversations about the need for bedside support in pediatric hospitals nationwide.
While care packages are no longer our primary focus, their legacy lives on in our hospital partnerships and build projects.
