NICU Throwback Monday
A little #throwbackMonday to our Sparrow Hospital days with Allison. This particular visit was about a week long after a scary CPR event at home. Over the course of the week I was able to leave our hospital room just a handful of times – a couple of quick showers, a couple of runs down the hall for coffee or pop from the machine, and a few chance meals from the cafeteria when a Child Life volunteer was able to sit with Alli. I wanted to publicly thank all of you who came out tonight to pack care packages on such short notice. Moments like tonight, where such an overwhelming amount of support appeared with hours notice, just reaffirms to me how special Allison is and what an important thing this is that we do in her memory and honor. We packed all of our Christmas care packages in a matter of 36 minutes with this amazing group!! That has to be a record!! Happy Anniversary Princess Alli Foundation
After Alli passed away in January 2015 we knew that we needed to find a way to honor her memory and help other families that were fighting for their sick children. It was one year ago this week that I presented the idea of a memorial foundation for our sweet daughter to a small group of friends and family, and we set in motion plans to begin bringing care packages to Sparrow Health System just a couple of short weeks later. Happy Birthday Princess Alli! On March 12, 2014 we welcomed the most amazing little girl into the world. Allison Ruth was the perfect mix of sweet and sassy. She loved people. She taught us so much about life and unconditional love. Since we formed the Princess Alli Foundation in May of last year we have provided 2,170 care packages to families at Sparrow Hospital and Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in honor of our sweet girl.
