10,000th Care Package!
We did it – this morning we delivered our 10,000th care package!! Last week we shipped out Toiletry Care Packages to new friends at Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Mississippi, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Florida, and to MUSC Children’s Health in South Carolina! Today we shipped out boxes to Duke Children’s Hospital in North Carolina, UVA Health System Children’s Hospital in Virginia, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Maryland, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in New York, and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital here in Michigan. We also made a delivery to our friends at Sparrow Health System! 10,000 care packages was a huge goal for us for this year! We were super excited to visit our friends at Emergent BioSolutions in Lansing to pack bags this morning! This group is super efficient: they packed 900 bags in just over an hour! Happy Birthday Armando!
Happy Birthday Armando! In January, Melanie’s dear friend Armando hosted a birthday fundraiser to support Princess Alli Foundation and three other nonprofits benefitting children with craniofacial defects. Armando’s fundraiser was a huge success – he raised $560!! We wanted to do something special with our portion of the funds he raised, so we are sending 60 of our toiletry care packages to families currently at Medical City Children’s Hospital, where Armando received treatment for Treacher Collins Syndrome as a child. Today we had the opportunity to work with a team of volunteers from Emergent BioSolutions in Lansing, MI! In just under an hour these amazing ladies packed 170 Thanksgiving food care packages and more than 200 toiletry bags! Incredible! 2017 Holiday Care Package Project – Sponsorships available!
Our 2016 Holiday Care Package Project was a huge success! We were able to provide more than 400 food care packages to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, MI thanks to the support of our generous sponsors! We were even able to provide extra food items to our friends at Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo! In 2017 we will once again be providing Holiday Care Packages for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, and are excited to be planning Christmas Day deliveries to Bronson, DeVos, and Hurley in addition to Sparrow Hospital!
